Proclinical is partnering with a leading biotechnology company to advertise a vacancy for an Internal Audit Manager position. The company specialises in neurodegenerative diseases, haemophilia, and autoimmune disorders. Based in the company's Berkshire office, this position is an exciting opportunity to work with an innovative and driven firm.

The Internal Audit Manager will provide assurance to executive and functional management as to the effective use of company resources and adequacy of the internal controls and governance practices. They will also address adherence to Corporate and Finance Policies and Procedures, as well as local laws, regulations, and industry codes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the execution of internal audit projects through the identification operational and financial risk areas, development and completion of audit test plans, and the communication of observations and recommendations to enhance the control environment.
  • Conducting/managing higher risk audits and participating on integrated operational and financial audits of client functions and affiliates in both domestic and international locations.
  • Supervising other internal and external team members on various audits to ensure timely and thorough completion of their assigned responsibilities.
  • Developing, managing, and performing operational and financial audits of the Company's worldwide operations.
  • The objectives of the audits are to:
    • Evaluate that sound business and control principles are in place and working effectively.
    • Identify opportunities to improve business and control practices.
    • Evaluate whether Company resources are used effectively and efficiently, and that management is performing their responsibilities in compliance with applicable Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Engagement planning, including but not limited to:
    • Obtain a deep understanding of operational objectives, key performance measures, and leading practices for the area under audit.
    • Identifying internal and external risk factors.
    • Identifying control objectives, control activities, and key control points.
  • Assisting in the development of audit scope, objectives, and work programs.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of internal control and processes through detailed testing.
  • Properly document work papers to support audit observations for review by audit management.
  • Managing internal and external staff.
  • Preparing audit observations and issues, discussing with audit management and auditee to verify factual content, and presenting the issues within appropriate context and tone at audit meetings.
  • Working with Management, recommending value-added revisions to controls, processes, systems and procedures, and preparing audit reports for Director review.

Skills and Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a Master's degree or an MBA an additional benefit.
  • Professional certifications should include CA, ACCA, or CIA.
  • At least 6-8 years of diversified local and/or international auditing experience, with some Big4 experience preferred. Non audit experience considered to be a plus.
  • Strong understanding of core accounting concepts and working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong knowledge of audit methodology, risk assessment and internal control concepts.
  • Awareness of fraud risks and schemes.
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40% to work in domestic and international markets for multi-week assignments as necessary.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
