Proclinical is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join an innovative biopharmaceutical organisation with a solid commercial portfolio of life-saving drugs. The company has a growing pipeline of investigational drugs and approximately 5,000 employees in offices across four continents.

Joining the company's team in San Mateo, California, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely reports, including monthly financials, and providing analytical support to the Corporate Engineering & Facilities management teams. This is a contract position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supporting month end close/reporting activities, including managing accruals and variance analytics.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of key business drivers to incorporate into monthly commentaries.
  • Taking on finance responsibility for the Department (OPEX Cost Center) and Capital Project spending.
  • Leading the forecast and budget planning for Corporate Engineering and Facilities departments. Developing and relaying the business narratives behind the forecast/budget figures via presentations.
  • Developing an understanding of key performance drivers and issues relating to budget and actual results, ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted.
  • Contributing to an array of cross-disciplinary projects and initiatives, as well as dricing continuous improvements in Finance processes, systems, financial tools, and documentation to maximise efficiency. The Senior Financial Analyst is expected to provide insightful analysis and actionable reporting, ensuring compliance with worldwide policies and procedures, along with local statutory reporting.
  • Creating efficient process flows for operational activities, and creating documentation/reference guides.
  • Building and maintain strong business partnerships through regular meetings and close collaboration.

Skills and Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in a financial planning and analysis role, and a BA or BS degree required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Strong organisation and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Able to work and adapt to fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and develop solutions for a variety of situations.
  • Experience with Oracle, Hyperion and reporting applications.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus.
