Scientist 3 - Molecular Biology

At Proclinical, we are seeking an individual to fill the role of Scientist III - Molecular Biology, based in Collegeville, PA. The primary focus of the role is to support the directed evolution platform by participating in the construction and expression of enzyme libraries. The successful candidate would participate on an interdisciplinary team tasked with providing fit for purpose enzymes to chemistry project teams.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with high-throughput liquid handling and automation equipment.
• Knowledge of standard bioinformatics and structural analysis tools.
• Understand directed evolution approaches including both random and rational methods.
• Awareness of next-generation DNA sequencing technologies and library preparation protocols.
• Optimize 96-well library preparation protocols.
• Utilize high throughput cloning technology to construct mutant enzyme libraries.
• Manipulate large-scale datasets using MS Excel and equipment interfacing programs.
• Optimize 96-well protein expression in various host organisms.
• Liaise with scientists and external collaborators at all levels.
• Generate conclusion reports, present data in team meetings.
• Participate in writing of abstracts and publications

Skills And Qualifications

• MS with 1-3 years relevant experience or PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Experience with modern molecular biology techniques, including PCR, digest, ligation, and gel electrophoresis.
• Experience optimizing recombinant bacterial protein expression.
• Familiarity with bacterial strain engineering.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Awareness of synthetic biology and protein engineering techniques.
