This is a brilliant opportunity for a Health Economics Manager to join a renowned biopharmaceutical company who have approximately 25000 employees placed in over 170 countries, this particular role will be based in Maidenhead. The Health Economics (HE) Manager reports into the Head of Health Technology Assessments (HTA) for the UK and will be based at our offices in Maidenhead.

To secure positive recommendations for our life changing medicines by demonstrating cost-effectiveness through the development of the highest quality and most robust submissions possible.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development of global HE deliverables, working in close collaboration with global colleagues and external vendors.
  • Lead the UK adaptation of global HE deliverables as required.
  • Accountable for the cost-effectiveness (CE) and budget impact elements of UK HTA submissions, working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Lead engagement with external experts in health economics to obtain external input and validate health economic approach.
  • Represent the company with a high degree of professionalism at NICE, SMC and AWMSG committees, and in meetings with NICE Evidence Review Groups.
  • Core member of Commercialisation of Asset Teams (CoAT) as appropriate to the lifecycle of the product.
  • Work with the CoAT and particularly Outcomes Research colleagues to identify and address evidence gaps relevant to demonstrating cost-effectiveness (CE).
  • Provide early advice on asset CE and pricing through the use and development of appropriate frameworks and models.
  • Key internal UK stakeholders include Health Technology Assessment Managers and other Market Access colleagues, Medical Affairs, Outcomes Research, and Commercial Leads. Global HEOR is also a key stakeholder for the HE Manager.

Skills and Requirements:

  • First degree in a relevant subject e.g. life sciences, economics, mathematics.
  • MSc or PhD in Health Economics.
  • Deep understanding of economic concepts relevant to UK HTA.
  • Understanding of evidence synthesis techniques.
  • Experience of developing and adapting CE models for UK HTA.
  • Experience of developing CE and budget impact elements of UK HTA submissions.
  • Experience of identifying and addressing evidence gaps relevant to demonstrating CE.
  • Experience of representation at UK HTA committees.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across matrix functions.
  • Skilled in translating complex economic concepts into simple language.
  • Ability to work to strict timelines.
  • Experience of working on assets at early lifecycle would be desirable.
  • Operates with an enterprise perspective, putting overall the company before individual or functional interests.
