European biotech, search for head of regulatory affairs labelling

Case study

The overview

A clinical stage biotech partnered exclusively with us to source a head of regulatory affairs labelling for their EU expansion project.

The challenge

The company attempted to run the search directly for months with little success given the niche skillset required and limited talent pool at this level across the UK and Europe. The head of labelling was expected to cover the operational activities until the team was built around them, which at this level was not positioned correctly to prospective candidates and was seen as a step backwards by senior-level professionals. This was a key appointment for them, so they approached us with the challenge to find the right candidate as quickly as possible.

The solution

With this being an exclusive senior search with a tight deadline, we were able to provide a dedicated project team to quickly cover the market thoroughly. Given the niche skillset required and seniority of the role, we made sure our partner was aware that we would not send a vast amount of profiles, but the ones we would submit would be ideally suited to the brief. Our consultants used their combined 25 years of regulatory affairs recruitment experience to generate relevant referrals and find candidates who were not on LinkedIn, which meant they were unknown to our partner and other agencies. Our team ran initial screening calls with candidates to save our partner time and submitted a shortlist that we were confident the hiring manager would be interested in.

The outcome

We managed to fast track the first interviews to ensure our partner did not lose the candidates to competitors, and we set final panel interviews the following week

One candidate stood out to our partner and an offer was made and accepted in a quick process that took just 20 days from profile submission to offer.
