Our partner, an internationally renowned laboratory testing service was searching for a business unit leader to be based in Taiwan.
They previously hired someone for the role, however the individual’s experience was not in life sciences and was ultimately not suitable. Therefore, when our partner approached us with the role, they were very strict on their requirements. They wanted someone with a very stable CV, and extensive experience in a similar industry.
We utilised our deep market knowledge and networks to provide our partner with several strong profiles, including one that was slightly overqualified but an excellent cultural fit. The company were delighted with this profile and after a lengthy round of interviews (7 in total), they made the offer which was gladly accepted. This 5-month process took place in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the candidate needed quarantine in China for before his external interview process. This meant we had to manage multiple interviews across video calls, making sure both our partner and the candidate built up a good rapport whilst ensuring the process was tightly operated.
We had weekly meetings with the senior management team, providing regular updates and shortlists, which ensured our partner was always kept informed of how the search was progressing. We had a final shortlist of 6 candidates, of which 4 were interviewed.
