Proclinical is partnering with one of the most prestigious pharmaceutical organisations in the world to advertise a vacancy for a Microbiology Technician position. The company works across a range of industries from medical devices to pharmaceutical and consumer goods, operating in over 60 countries. Based in County Durham, this is an exciting opportunity to work with an internationally renowned pharmaceutical company.
Job Responsibilities:
- Carrying out microbiological testing to ensure the ongoing quality of product.
- Interfacing with other departments to ensure timely release of products and materials.
- Supporting laboratory investigations and non-conformance investigations.
- Ensuring the principles of cGMP are applied and that all documentation is followed to comply with ISO9000, ISO13485, FDA QSRs and the Medical device directive.
- Supporting documentation revisions Duties & Responsibilities (leadership, people development, planning and execution).
- Ensuring that microbiological testing is performed in a timely manner.
- Day to day performance:
- Bioburden testing.
- Sterility testing.
- Antibiotic potency testing.
- Environmental monitoring.
- Enumeration and identification of contaminants.
- Managing consumables and materials used in testing.
- Autoclaving of items for the laboratory and production.
- Execution of the laboratory cleaning program.
- Review of sterilization documentation.
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations.
- Ensuring compliance with all local, national, international, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
- Overseeing GMP documentation and Quality Systems.
- Supporting investigations to assist in the completion of Non-conformance reports and OOS excursions Training.
- Ensuring that own training records are up to date and complete.
- Assisting in the training of other staff.
- Supporting validation of test methods and equipment for the microbiology department.
- Supporting validation of processes for sterility assurance External communications.
- Liaising with sterilization contractors and approved manufactures to ensure data is retrieved and available.
- Ensuring that consumables are ordered in a timely manner to avoid testing delays.
- Ensuring that microbiological testing is performed in a timely manner.
To Apply:
- A minimum of A level in Science or Mathematics discipline (international equivalents acceptable).
- BSc degree in Biological sciences is desirable.
- Minimum of 1 years' experience in a laboratory setting (Practical laboratory experience gained through a degree is acceptable).
- Desired previous experience working within a quality environment in the Food, Consumer, Pharmaceutical or Medical device industry.
- Able to follow procedures to ensure the principles of cGMP are upheld.
- Demonstrable basic mathematical ability.
- Basic knowledge of cGMP and documentation practices.
- Knowledge of microbiological test methods.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office, Concur, and Visio.
