Senior Research Associate: Histology - Contract - San Diego, CA

Proclinical is recruiting for a dedicated individual to join a research team focusing on Histology.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work within the Histology Hub, supporting all histology sample preparation, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning (both frozen and FFPE tissue), and histological staining. The Associate will play a key role in supporting and participating in the exciting R&D initiatives, including supporting IHC, IF, and ISH staining and imaging.

Skills & Requirements:

• BS in Biology, Chemistry, or related field
• At least 3 years of professional experience: prior histology experience supporting multiple PIs and workstreams as is gained in a centralized histology hub or CRO is strongly preferred
• Experience with best practices for key elements of fresh frozen and FFPE histology workflows (fixation, grossing, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining/IHC/ISH)
• Experience with a variety of tissue types with FFPE and fresh frozen histology workflows
• Experience with operating and basic routine maintenance on histology instrumentation (cassette/slide printers, tissue processor, paraffin embedders, cryostats, microtomes, and slide stainers)

• Experience cutting undecalcified bone
• HTL Certification
• Experience with automated histology instrumentation (stainers, coverslippers, and IHC/ISH instrumentation).
• Experience with basic imaging practices and instrumentation relevant to histology workflows (slide scanners)

The Senior Research Associate's responsibilities will be:

• Provide consistent histology sample preparation and slide production
• Support automated specimen and slide tracking
• Work with the core lead and vendors to upgrade, customize and maintain instrumentation
• Preparation of IHC/ISH samples
• Validation of methods
• Follow, create, and edit SOPs and technical training materials
• Document histology workflows through electronic lab notebooks

Compensation:

• $45 to $50 per hour.
