In-Vivo Research Associate - Contract - San Diego, CA

Proclinical is seeking an In Vivo Research Associate to support laboratory research activities in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role focuses on in vivo studies, histology, imaging, and general lab operations. You will play a key role in supporting experimental workflows, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining compliance with laboratory standards.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline, plus 3 years of hands-on experimental laboratory experience (industry or academia).
  • Hands-on rodent experience, including daily intraperitoneal (IP) injections, drug formulation, euthanasia, and necropsy.
  • Experience supporting in vivo studies, including tissue harvest preparation and hands-on assistance during dissection.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with histology workflows, including cryosectioning, microtome use, and specialized stains (H&E, SDH, fiber typing, Oil Red O, Sirius Red).
  • Excellent electronic lab notebook (ELN) record-keeping skills (Benchling preferred) with strong attention to detail and data quality.
  • Experience operating automated staining platforms (e.g., Leica BOND Rx).
  • Brightfield and immunofluorescence microscopy experience using Aperio and Axio/Zeiss platforms.

The In-Vivo Research Associate's responsibilities will be:

  • In Vivo Support: Prepare experimental tissue harvest supplies (labels, collection tubes).
  • Provide hands-on assistance during active tissue harvesting and daily IP injections.
  • Histology & Imaging: Perform urgent tissue sectioning using a cryostat and microtome.
  • Execute staining workflows (H&E, SDH, ORO, Sirius Red, and Fibertyping).
  • Conduct brightfield and immunofluorescence (IF) imaging using Aperio and Axio platforms, managing data distribution across Weaver and OMERO servers.
  • Bench Work: Aliquot, log, & maintain working stocks of shared antibodies and reagents
  • Track, organize, and update documentation for all incoming lab orders.
  • Data & Compliance: Maintain precise, compliant electronic lab notebook (ELN) records

Compensation:

  • $40 to $45 per hour.
