Research Scientist V - Contract - Watertown, MA

Proclinical is seeking a Scientist I-II to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team focused on developing human cell-based disease-relevant platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
This role involves advancing in vitro technology to support early drug candidate validation, with an emphasis on cardiometabolic disease models. You will play a key role in establishing advanced multicellular models, collaborating across teams, and contributing to external partnerships.
Skills & Requirements:
- 12 years minimum of relevant technical experience required alongside Masters Degree with 8 years relevant experience or PhD with 2 years relevant industry or post-doctorate experience can be considered.
- Expertise in cell culture and the development of advanced human in vitro model systems.
- Experience with multicellular obesity-cardiometabolic models and establishing disease-relevant functional endpoints.
- Specialized knowledge in cardiometabolic disease research, particularly in areas like obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, adipose or vascular biology, or insulin resistance.
- Strong ability to work autonomously on complex tasks of strategic importance.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
- Effective communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
The Research Scientist's responsibilities will be:
- Develop and implement advanced in vitro models for cardiometabolic diseases, focusing on areas such as adipose tissue, vascular biology, and insulin resistance.
- Drive the development of Microphysiological Systems (MPS) technology in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Guide and mentor junior scientists while contributing hands-on to lab work.
- Collaborate with external partners on specific model development projects.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and contribute to setting project strategies.
- Engage with global teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Contribute to external collaborations to advance MPS technology platforms.
Compensation:
- $90 to $105 per hour.
