Process Chemist: Organic Chemistry - Contract - Cambridge, MA
Proclinical is seeking a skilled and motivated Process Chemist specializing in Organic Chemistry to join a dynamic Process Chemistry group. This is a full-time, onsite contract position based in Cambridge, MA.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of robust drug substance manufacturing processes across various phases of drug development. Your work will involve multi-step organic synthesis, route scouting, optimization, purification, and characterization of intermediates and final compounds to support scale-up activities.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of organic chemistry and modern synthetic techniques.
- Experience in early-phase route development and process optimization.
- Proficiency in analytical instruments such as HPLC, UPLC, NMR, and LCMS, along with relevant software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Adaptability to change and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and seek assistance when needed.
- A collaborative mindset with transparent and effective communication skills.
Education:
- BS or MS in Chemistry or a related field with relevant experience in pharmaceutical research or laboratory settings.
- Candidates with a PhD and 0-3 years of experience are also encouraged to apply.
The Process Chemist's responsibilities will be:
- Design, plan, and execute multi-step synthesis for process research and development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Implement process improvements and scientific approaches to enhance chemical processes.
- Document and report experimental results and findings accurately.
- Draft and review technical documents, including development reports, patent applications, and tech transfer documents.
- Maintain an accurate and compliant laboratory notebook.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and safety regulations are followed.
