Looking to uncover insights that could revolutionize the future of medicine and drive breakthroughs in patient care?
Proclinical is seeking a motivated and scientifically curious Senior Research Scientist focusing on Enzymology to join our Biochemistry team.
Primary Responsibilities:
In this role, you will contribute to small molecule drug discovery efforts by applying your expertise in biochemistry, biophysics, enzymology, or chemical biology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to design and execute in-vitro assays, analyze experimental data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance discovery programs.
Skills & Requirements:
- Academic background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemical Biology, or a related field, with hands-on laboratory experience in biochemistry and/or enzymology.
- Strong understanding of enzymology, biochemical assays, and biophysics, including enzyme catalysis and small molecule modes of action (e.g., kcat, Km, IC50, Kd, kon, koff).
- Proficiency in basic biochemistry lab work, including buffer preparation, assay development, and operation of liquid handling platforms and plate readers.
- Hands-on experience with protein purification and characterization, with familiarity in relevant theoretical methods.
- Skilled in data analysis and curve-fitting software such as GraphPad Prism and Genedata.
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, adjust priorities as needed, and contribute to team success.
- Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and driven by data-informed decision-making.
The Senior Research Scientist's responsibilities will be:
- Design, develop, and execute biochemical (e.g., FI, HTRF, FP) and biophysical (e.g., SPR, BLI, ITC, DSF) assays to support hit identification, validation, and mechanistic studies.
- Troubleshoot assay performance issues by analyzing variability, signal-to-noise ratios, and reagent stability, optimizing protocols for robustness and reproducibility.
- Perform high-throughput screening (HTS) and related assays to evaluate compound libraries, assessing affinity, specificity, and binding kinetics (e.g., IC50, Kd, kon, koff).
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using tools such as GraphPad Prism and Genedata Screener, presenting findings in reports, slide decks, and collaborative discussions.
- Support protein expression and purification workflows using techniques like affinity chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, and size-exclusion chromatography.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including multimode plate readers and automated liquid handlers.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and contribute to technical documentation as needed.
