Animal Care Tech - Contract - Columbus, OH

Do you have a passion for animal welfare and want to play a hands-on role in supporting vital scientific research?

Proclinical is seeking an Animal Care Technician to join a team in Columbus, OH.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support vivarium operations and assist with non-clinical study data collection. This is a hands-on position requiring a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The schedule will transition to Sunday through Thursday after training, with initial training occurring Monday through Friday.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred.
  • Willingness to work holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Passion for animal welfare and care.
  • Experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with laboratory methods, SOPs, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The Animal Care Tech's responsibilities will be:

  • Perform daily husbandry tasks for study animals, including cage changes and welfare checks.
  • Conduct colony management tasks and oversee routine maintenance.
  • Receive rodents and assist with pest control checks.
  • Operate and maintain cage wash, autoclave, and laundry equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Study Protocols, Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Document activities with precision and attention to detail.
  • Handle rodents humanely and confidently.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
