The organization is seeking for a Bench Scientist 3 to join their team in Massachusetts. The company's research team is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and creative biologist to take part in the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with high unmet medical needs. They will have the opportunity to make significant and high-impact contributions in a small dynamic group setting on multiple drug discovery programs in the areas of T-cell function, immunometabolism, and the gut microbiome.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performing hands-on experimentation using a wide range of molecular and cellular techniques suitable for drug target identification and validation, including development of rodent and human cell- and tissue-based immunoassays.
- Generating, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting experimental results in a small group setting.
- Generating study reports and maintaining a detailed record of experiments in electronic lab notebooks in accordance with company policy.
- Serving as an active participant on cross-functional project teams to investigate the biology of novel targets and to evaluate the effects of newly developed drug lead candidates on immune cell function.
Skills and Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Immunology/Cell Biology/Pharmacology or related discipline with relevant immunology research experience plus 2 years' post-doctoral experience in an academic, institutional, or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated track record of productivity in the immunology field, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals and/or patents.
- Proficiency across a range of immunological techniques, including but not limited to the following (in order of priority):
- Multi-color flow cytometry (FACS panel design; data acquisition, analysis, and reporting)
- Isolation of immunocyte subsets and cell-based assay development using primary rodent and human immune cells and immortalized cell lines
- Multi-plex protein detection (ELISA, Luminex, MSD)
- Gene expression analysis (TaqMan, NanoString, NGS)
- Molecular biology (transfection, stable cell line generation, Western Blot)
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience utilizing functional genomics approaches (si/hRNA, CRISPR-Cas) for phenotypic screening and target ID/validation in cell lines or primary immune cells.
- Previous drug discovery experience in a biopharmaceutical setting.
- Experience with pre-clinical models of autoimmunity autoimmune models (SLE, EAE, RA, IBD) and their application towards genetic and pharmacological target validation and drug development.
- Familiarity with the pathogenic mechanisms underlying human autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, and inflammatory bowel disease.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
