A leading management consulting firm is advertising a vacancy for an Associate Research Scientist position. The organization, which prides itself on its leading presence as a global advisor of talent supply chain strategies and workforce solutions, is seeking for a driven and talented individual to join its New Jersey-based office. Job Responsibilities:

  • Performing basic research to discover and characterize bacterial antigens with the goal of advancing the development novel vaccines to prevent bacterial infections.
  • Expressing and purifying proteins and the characterization of these proteins through biochemical and immunological techniques.
  • Being responsible for data analysis and interpretation using various computer applications, such as Excel and GraphPad.
  • Maintaining a clear written record of experimental design and results.
  • Writing reports, protocols and manuscripts.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, as well as ensuring a safe laboratory environment.

Skills and Requirements:

  • BS, BA or MS in biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, or related discipline required.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience.
  • Experience in protein purification and basic biochemistry is required.
  • Experience in basic immunology, including immunological assays, is a plus.
  • Experience with genetic manipulation of bacteria is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Works well in a regulated (GCLP compliant) laboratory environment
  • Experience with protein expression and purification from E. coli, including size-exclusion, ion exchange and affinity chromatography, with FPLC experience a plus.
  • Characterization of protein-protein/protein-substrate interactions, with biolayer interferometry experience a plus.
  • Immunological techniques such as Western blot, ELISA, and bead-based immunological assays.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
