ProClinical is partnering with one of the largest CROs in the global market to advertise a vacancy for an Associate Director - Business Development position. This leading company, which specialises in technological advances and access to real-world data, is seeking an exceptional individual to join their BD Department in an office-based capacity in Frankfurt, Munich, or Freiburg. Alternatively, this position can be home-based throughout Germany or the UK.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively prospecting and leveraging potential new business opportunities within specified customer accounts.
  • Cultivating strong, log-term relationships with key decision-makers within Account and developing in-depth knowledge of the customer organisation.
  • Maintaining general knowledge of all company services for appropriate cross-sell opportunities.
  • Aggressively pursuing awareness of competitive activities, positioning, and pricing, which includes specific reasons for awards and non-awards.
  • Identifying and responding to customer needs in order to define potential opportunities; proposing appropriate strategy/solutions to customers.
  • Coordinating with contracts/proposals to develop proposals.
  • Working with operations and functional managers to identify sales team and preparing & leading sales presentations; educating team participants in customer culture, operational needs/methods, and sales techniques needed to close the sale.
  • Handling follow-up related to the sale and driving completion of contractual departments.
  • Adapting successful strategies and tactics to meet market demands and financial targets.
  • Maintaining high visibility within customer organisation, and monitoring customer satisfaction by communicating regularly with customers.
  • Establishing and executing a comprehensive sales plan for each target account, ensuring appropriate strategies/solutions are proposed to customers.
  • Analysing potential opportunities and developing sales plans for each target account.
  • Monitoring actions and results against plans.
  • Recording all customer sales related activities in CRM system.
  • Preparing sales activity report for Sales Management as required.
  • Serving as a liaison between the customer and technical & operational company groups.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A bachelor or higher-level degree in Business Management or Life Sciences, or an equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • At least 10 years of related experience, including 3 years of relevant industry (CRO/Pharmaceutical) and/or sales experience.
  • A proven track record of mid-level and high-level contacts.
  • A developing record of customer contacts at the outsourcing, procurement, and mid-management level.
  • Excellent Business and Industry awareness, and a thorough understanding of industry trends and impact on the business.
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing and interpreting customer business data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, establishing and managing relationships, persuasion, influencing and negotiation.
  • Strong organisational skills, including planning, project management, deadline management, timeline maintenance, adaptability, and flexibility in the face of changing priorities.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
