A leading global biopharmaceutical company is seeking to recruit a 2nd Line IT Engineer to its office in the UK. The company specialises in bringing forward medicines and vaccines for many of the world's most challenging diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that continues to be at the forefront of research to advance the prevention and treatment of diseases that threaten people and communities around the world.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and developing IT desktop environment and infrastructure.
- Ensuring corporate systems are implemented as per technical bulletins to manage user security.
- Ensuring that network and desktop environment are maintained to ensure minimum business disruption through lack of availability.
- Developing performance monitoring activities to ensure availability of equipment is maintained.
- Overseeing project management of major/minor upgrades to site environment.
- Implementing new IT systems and processes to support business requirements.
- Participating in divisional and corporate projects as site technical representative in European IT network.
- Providing IT technical input to system implementation projects.
- Identifying and delivering projects to improve infrastructure.
- Supporting Local Infrastructure and Client Service IT Groups.
- Providing technical direction and support to staff.
- Providing 2nd line IT helpdesk support and managing interfaces with suppliers/corporate groups as appropriate.
- Participating in corporate mandatory activities, such as but not limited to device patching and security vulnerability remediation.
- Maintaining compliance to Merck Corporate and Regulatory guidelines for IT infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining SOPs to support departmental activities.
- Contributing change controls and validation documentation associated with IT projects.
Skills and Requirements:
- Ideally a University degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
