The overview

We partnered with an Australian subsidiary of a global pioneer and leader in medical cannabis. They were in the early phase development stage and wanted to commercialise within the next 12 months.

The challenge

Having heard of our success within the medicinal cannabis space across Oceania, the founder exclusively retained us in their search for their inaugural CEO.

One of the main complexities of the role was the location. Based in the vicinity of the east coast of Australia, the facility was far away from any major metropolitan area and the relevant talent pool was extremely limited.

The solution

Within the first week of engagement, we had successfully identified the shortlist of potential candidates. We utilised our vast network and quickly identified suitable high-level candidates that were open to relocation to the east coast. By week 2, first stage interviews had commenced via video-link due to the Covid-19 pandemic and state border closures. Our partner quickly identified their preferred candidates and sought to proceed with face-to-face interviews. However, as the candidates were located in other states, we assisted the team with securing state border passes for the candidates to safely enter the region.

The outcome

After further interviews and discussion, the Board of the company identified a highly experienced CEO from Sydney and they then offered him the role.

The candidate relocated successfully to begin his position as the company’s first CEO to take part in their next phase of growth and successful commercialisation.
