Vice President Finance - Permanent - Hybrid
Proclinical Staffing is seeking a Vice President Finance to join a cutting-edge biotech company. This is a permanent role with the opportunity to work hybrid in New Jersey.
Primary Responsibilities
The Vice President, Finance will be a key financial leader and a close partner to the CEO. S/he will be responsible for the vision, leadership, strategic direction, and performance of the controllership and financial planning and analysis functions and will have primary responsibility for presenting to the Audit Committee. Serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CEO and other senior leaders on financial accounting, financial reporting, and finance matters for the organization.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong academic credentials, including an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or business required. MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance leadership roles with the technical skills, business acumen and management capability to function successfully in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Experience in biopharma is preferred with select consideration to life sciences experience more broadly.
- Experience leading a company through growth and implementing the process and systems needed to scale a startup company. Ability to introduce best-in-class process, discipline and financial rigor without negatively impacting creativity or growth.
- Ability to thrive in a start-up, fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The Vice President Finance will:
- Serves as an operational finance leader and thought partner to CEO and other senior leaders in strategic business initiative discussions, and development of long-range objectives, by understanding and communicating the accounting and finance implications of proposed transactions with the business leaders as well as with senior leadership.
- Directs and oversees all aspects of the accounting and control functions of the Organization.
- Accountable for the development, deployment, and implementation of all company methods, procedures, and practices to safeguard the assets of the company and to properly reflect its financial results. Accountable for the accurate and timely interpretation of GAAP accounting standards and the accurate incorporation of such interpretations into the company's financial records.
- Oversees and controls the general accounting activities, including recording company transactions, classifications, and reconciliation of account balances in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Responsible for accounting policy and oversees/directs accounting questions and judgments for the enterprise; directs and controls the accounts for the organization's balance sheet.
- Oversees and is accountable for planning and execution of the annual audit, through an external public accounting firm. Functions as the company subject matter expert and principal point of interpretation on all matters resulting from dealings with external accountants and auditors. Responsible for managing relationship with external auditors.
- Working closely with the CEO, ensures that the Board and Audit Committee have a clear sense of the overall financial health and potential risk areas of the company. Maintains prudent risk policies and exposures and establishes balances sheet management and forecasting discipline.
- Builds and develops a cohesive finance function that enables strategic planning and forecasting. Manages the analysis and interpretation of operating results and develops policies, procedures and communication to ensure the overall accuracy and consistency of reporting and financial analysis processes.
- Oversee the design and execution of financial reporting, revenue accounting, and corporate accounting functions along with the development and implementation of related ERP systems, controls, procedures and policies.
- Partners with to external Tax Advisors to optimize the company's tax structure. Works closely with tax and ensures that it ties into the broader accounting and finance organizations. Provides senior leadership and guidance on strategic accounting impact and tax implications for all material business decisions.
