Proclinical, in support of our client, are seeking an individual to fill the role of Senior Research Scientist I, Liver Fibrosis Biomarker Sciences, based in San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate will support new and ongoing efforts focused on biomarker development in the areas of chronic progressive fibrotic diseases such as NASH fibrosis and rare diseases resulting in liver fibrosis and dysfunction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of biomarker and diagnostic strategy for Liver Fibrosis Programs
  • Lead biomarker teams to oversee the delivery of biomarker and diagnostic strategies.
  • Direct the development, outsourcing and validation of clinically applicable biomarker assays and design, implement and oversee biomarker and diagnostic testing and data analysis/interpretation
  • Identify, establish and oversee external collaborations to advance understanding of pathway specific prognostic biomarkers in primary human samples. Provide expertise to research and development teams to ensure access to biomarker assay technologies.
  • Collaborate with Research Biology, Clinical Research and Biostatistics for synergy in developing biomarker strategies and translational approaches.

Skills And Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent and 3+ years of experience (post-doctoral work or employment inclusive).
  • Experience in the use and application of modern techniques to enable biomarker research and/or experience with rare diseases such as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.
  • Experience in the investigation of progressive fibrotic diseases, disease related pathways, and potential biomarkers of fibrosis, is highly desired.
  • Experience with clinical stage programs for Type 2 Diabetes or related conditions preferred.
  • Experience with the use of a wide range of platforms encompassing genomics, gene expression, multiplexed protein detection, metabolomics, or other related emerging platforms.
  • Strong skills and experience in hypothesis-driven biological/translational research and biomarker development.
  • Maintain knowledge of scientific advances and competitive activity.
