Lead Optical Design Engineer (Remote - Europe)

Remote across Europe (with occasional travel to their HQ)

Proclinical is looking for a Senior / Lead Optical Design Engineer to join an innovative R&D team working on next-generation AR/VR near-eye display technologies. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in taking cutting-edge optical concepts through to real-world products in a fast-moving, startup environment.

What you'll be doing

Lead the design of advanced optical systems for near-eye displays
Take projects from concept through prototyping to production
Work with tools like Zemax to design and optimise optical systems
Develop diffractive and holographic optical elements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and product

What we're looking for

Proven years of working experience in optical design
Background in AR/VR or near-eye display systems
Strong experience with Zemax and sequential optical design
Solid understanding of optical physics and image quality metrics
Hands-on experience with prototyping and manufacturing processes

Nice to have

Experience with Code V, SolidWorks, or LightTools
Knowledge of non-sequential modelling
Lab experience (alignment, testing, prototyping)
