Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for a Contract Medical Science Liaison position with a leading biotechnology company. The organisation has a strong reputation for developing innovative therapies for neurological diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, haemophilia, and autoimmune disorders. Based in the company's UK office, this is an exciting opportunity to work with an internationally renowned company and support their innovative impact in the medical field.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide field-based medical/scientific expertise and ensure an understanding of the disease area and the company's products as appropriate. They will build constructive partnerships with key stakeholders in the medical community and the healthcare system. MSLs contribute to company success through both internal and external medical education and medical/scientific information exchange and support. MSLs utilise their medical/scientific expertise to gather medical insights and to support research/ data generation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Building peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions to establish and maintain a therapeutic leadership position.
  • Rapidly disseminating recent scientific knowledge/data on company products in approved indications.
  • Communicating recent scientific knowledge/data on company products in off-label indications upon request.
  • Driving key medial education activities that support Healthcare Professional development.
  • Ensuring that customer insights are transmitted to in-country teams and also, where appropriate, into the above-country medical brand team.
  • Creating communication platforms with KOLs/institutions in line with therapeutic area defined strategies.
  • Providing quality scientific presentations at internal and external meetings.
  • Ensuring appropriate KOL/institutional involvement in company-sponsored activities.
  • Communicating KOL feedback on product development and life-cycle strategies
  • Developing and leveraging research (IIT, SRA) and medical quality project opportunities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Acting as the internal scientific/medical expert advisor to other staff members, conducting medical/scientific education, and liaising with global/EU+ medical team.
  • Supporting marketing and market access functions in product strategies.
  • Supporting the implementation of medical strategies through active participation at meetings, local congresses, at implementation of medical education initiatives, and at panel discussions.
  • Facilitating and contributing to the organization of local advisory boards and playing a lead role in those that address medical topics as a primary objective.
  • Providing local support for Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Medical Information, and Clinical Research as appropriate.
  • Providing support for field force and other medical training as required.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective collaborations with Regional & Global Medical Teams.
  • Acting as an active member of Regional (UK/EU+) networks.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Medical or scientific qualification (M.D., Ph.D. or Pharm.D. preferred).
  • 3 years postgraduate experience in academia or industry.
  • Experience from Health Care and patient management direct or indirect.
  • Demonstrable MSL core behaviours and acquired knowledge and skills/competencies to the degree expected at this job level.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
