An exciting Boston-based biotech is seeking an outstanding Scientist/Senior Scientist to join their Upstream Process Development team. This individual will take on a cell culture technical lead role for the biotech's portfolio programs and help develop the next generation of AAV production platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and execute experiments related to development, scale-up, and characterization of a cell culture process
  • Apply engineering principles to optimize scale-up processes
  • Perform data analysis and prepare technical reports, SOPs, and internal and external presentations
  • Ensure effective, high-quality, timely and appropriate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Support technology transfer activities including establishing material list, process transfer, scale up, facility gap analysis
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful execution/completion of project
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies for continuing platform improvement
  • Stay current on industry trends through literature review, courses, conferences, and technical meetings

Skills and Requirements:

  • Degrees in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent related fields with 0 - 3+ years (PhD), 3 - 5+ years (MS), or 5 - 7+ years (BS) relevant industrial experience
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a technical project, analyze, and interpret complex experimental data
  • Strong hands-on experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, analytical instrumentation, and bench scale bioreactor operations
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and oral presentations
  • Experience with molecular virology, pilot scale viral vector production, statistical software, technology transfer to manufacturing facility, and process characterization is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize as needed.
  • Highly self-driven with a problem-solving mindset
  • Thrives in cross-functional collaborations and is a team player
