Proclinical are collaborating with a biotech organisation who are recruiting for an individual to join their team. This role is on a permanent basis and is located in Cambridge. The opening role that is currently available is for a Senior Principal Enzymologist.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the mechanistic enzymology method, assisting in recognising the right drugs with the right mechanisms for the right patients, quicker.
  • Serve in a leadership position in the broader molecular sciences division, partaking in the tactical direction in CRH.
  • Responsible for directing drug discovery projects.
  • Matrix leadership.
  • Train and develop co-workers, which involves via practical participation from the bench.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Knowledge in classical mechanistic enzymology and its role in drug discovery.
  • Able to offer scientific and tactical leadership for the molecular sciences division, and broader CRH, to drive novelty and portfolio success.
  • Focused on the future and able to think in a tactical manner.
  • Communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Passionate about promoting scientific brilliance, through external publication, presentations and membership of conference committees and scientific advisory boards.
  • Work well in a team setting.
  • Educated to an advanced degree level in an enzymology, pharmacology or corresponding experience.
  • Familiarity within mechanistic enzymology in a drug discovery setting.
  • Acquaintance within translating drug-target kinetics through to mechanistic PKPD modelling for therapeutic dose prediction.
  • A background in portfolio impact across a variety of challenging target classes.
  • Prior involvement in inspiring and developing a diverse world-class group, while working within a highly matrixed discovery project setting.
  • Experience in forming and guiding external academic and industrial cooperations, and technology change projects.
  • A background in delivering outcomes across a varied project portfolio by driving tactical and scientific initiatives.
