Proclinical is seeking an R&D Head of Systems to lead and shape the systems engineering strategy for a division specializing in advanced particle accelerator technologies. This role involves driving innovation, ensuring compliance, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. You will play a pivotal role in transforming engineering processes, implementing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and delivering high-value, technically complex systems to global customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a systems engineering vision and roadmap aligned with objectives.
- Oversee and guide a multidisciplinary team, including systems architects, requirements engineers, and verification and validation (V&V) engineers.
- Oversee the entire systems engineering lifecycle, including stakeholder analysis, requirements management, architecture development, integration, and verification.
- Define modular system architectures with clear interface definitions and allocate functionality effectively.
- Ensure traceable flow-down of system requirements and conduct structured reviews of design trade-offs.
- Develop and execute verification and validation strategies using simulators and integration testing.
- Guarantee regulatory compliance for safety-critical applications.
- Establish robust configuration management and change control practices.
- Manage system ownership, including non-conformity resolution, root cause analysis, and product lifecycle support.
- Align legacy and future systems for interoperability and long-term scalability.
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Expertise in systems engineering, electrical, mechanical, or computer science engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MBSE tools and frameworks, including Polarion, Enterprise Architect, SysML, and UML.
- Strong knowledge of system lifecycle standards (e.g., INCOSE, ISO/IEC 15288, IEC 61508).
- Experience in safety-critical and regulated environments (e.g., industrial, medical, aerospace, automotive).
- Proven ability to align engineering strategies with business outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering talent development.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in French is an asset.
