PEL - Permanent - TX & OK

We are seeking a dedicated PEL to join a dynamic team committed to supporting patients and caregivers in the rare disease space.

This role covers areas in SC U.S. and is ideal for someone passionate about advocating and educating patients within a mid-sized biotech environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive, tailored education on disease management, treatment options, and product use, while promoting meaningful patient engagement.

You will also help navigate complex reimbursement processes and connect patients with relevant resources. This position emphasizes collaboration, patient-centricity, and compliance, ensuring patients receive compassionate and ethical support throughout their journey.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, Genetic Counseling, or a related healthcare field; certification as a genetic counselor is also acceptable.)
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or certification as a Genetic Counselor.
  • Master's degree or additional certifications (preferred).
  • Experience in specialty pharmaceutical or biotech roles, including patient and caregiver interaction.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing or facilitating health education programs tailored to patient needs.
  • Familiarity with rare diseases (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise while effectively simplifying medical information to support patient comprehension and engagement.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish fluency is highly preferred.

The PEL's responsibilities will be:

  • Provide clear, approved information about diseases and treatments to patients, caregivers, and community groups.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in patient engagement initiatives, including individual consultations, group sessions, and public events.
  • Deliver educational support to patients, caregivers, and advocacy organizations to enhance understanding of health conditions and therapies.
  • Support and attend community-based patient events to foster connection and awareness.
  • Guide patients and caregivers through reimbursement processes, insurance options, and therapy-related requirements.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of patient information and handle personal data in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to align patient education efforts with broader organizational goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant disease areas and products through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions and engagement activities as required.
  • Adhere to all relevant legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards.
  • Promptly report any adverse events (AEs) or serious adverse events (SAEs) to the designated teams.
