An international organisation with an innovative and varied portfolio of promising anti-cancer agents is currently recruiting for a Lead Translational Scientist. This organisation develops new cancer treatments, taking candidates through exploratory and preclinical development all the way into Phase I and Phase II clinical trials. Based in London, the position offers an exciting opportunity to work with an illustrious and highly-acclaimed establishment.
The Lead Translational Scientist will shape and lead the scientific strategy of Commercial Partnerships. They will provide an in depth and current understanding of the clinical and commercial landscape in oncology, gained through experience in translating pre-clinical science into innovative therapeutics, diagnostics, or med tech in industry or academia.
Job Responsibilities:
- Playing a lead role in developing the scientific strategy of Commercial Partnerships in terms of disease area and technology focus.
- Maintaining and developing an in-depth understanding of the cancer research and commercialisation landscape, identifying emerging themes for therapeutic or technological intervention.
- Leveraging the CRUK network to build teams of area experts around themes to explore and develop opportunities for exploitation.
- Providing critical analysis of new projects, spin-out opportunities, and therapeutic alliances arising from funded research.
- Building strong relationships with funded researchers and scientific teams.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of the Commercial Partnerships project portfolio and supporting the Chief Business Officer and project teams in partnering discussions.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proven in-depth experience in translating discovery research and pre-clinical science gained in sectors such as medical technologies, diagnostics, healthcare technologies, and pharmaceuticals.
- Ability to grasp technical and scientific concepts quickly.
- Extensive experience of drug discovery/development within the Pharma/Biotech/CRO industry.
- Experience of engaging with UK medical research environment.
- Demonstrate excellent product, customer and market knowledge.
- Demonstrates high level of clinical knowledge.
- Demonstrable project management skills.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
