Proclinical is seeking a Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research Senior Manager for Internal Medicines for a Pharmaceutical company, based in Switzerland. Global Market Access (GMAx) is a critical function for the company given the increasing importance of payers in achieving and maintaining reimbursement/access for in-line/launch products.
As recognized internal experts on Market Access, (incl. Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Operational and Strategic Pricing) the GMAx team provides answers/solutions to strategic questions relating to the value and access outcomes of key products; exerting influence on other global functions (Commercial, Medical, R&D etc.) and regional organizations (EU, APAC, LatAm etc.) as part of this process is paramount.
The Global HEOR (Senior) Manager Internal Medicine position is a highly accountable thought and decision leader that works cross-functionally with other Access, Commercial, Medical and R&D leaders, impacting global development and strategies. His/her main objective is to develop and execute the Global HEOR strategic plans for Internal Medicine for in-line and pipeline products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the global HEOR and reimbursement strategy
- Lead P&R and HTA submissions
- Identify and create relationship with payers (HTA boards)
- Research and perform critical analysis of medical and scientific evidence as the basis for disease burden/unmet needs, disease management guidelines and pharmacoeconomic comparisons of therapies
- Document unmet needs by demonstrating economic and humanistic burden of illness in planned/approved indications
- Plan, design and implement health outcomes programs to support the value proposition of the company's Internal Medicine products
- Collect real life evidence and demonstrate real life value for the company's Internal Medicine products, including prospective studies or retrospective database analyses, patient registries, and other type of primary and secondary outcomes research
- Develop economic models with clinical and economic data inputs
- Develop indirect treatment comparisons
- Assure timely execution of HEOR projects and arrange data-sharing among affiliates and global teams
- Support affiliates in HTA submissions
- Support the development of global tools to support value demonstration and communication
- Project management from concept to final deliverable including publication
- Work with Global Market Access Managers to develop HEOR strategies to support value proposition(s) for the company's Internal Medicine products globally
- Execute HEOR publication plan and make sure the internal and external HEOR publication review is completed in a timely manner
Skills and Requirements:
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MS/MPH, PharmD) with experience in epidemiology, economics, public health policy, econometrics, Pharmacoeconomics, psychometrics and health services research
- Fluent in written and verbal business English.
- 7+ years of pharmaceutical/healthcare/research experience including:
- 3+ years Global/EU HEOR (or related) experience in pharma and consultancy with proven track record of evidence strategy development and execution;
- Strong understanding of / experience in:
- 1) working within the global/EU payer environment;
- 2) drivers for reimbursement, value-based access, and how to integrate into drug development and commercial strategies;
- Demonstrated expertise in developing global HEOR strategies, evidence generation strategies, economic modelling, payer value propositions/messaging, affiliate negotiation training/workshops, and informing government affairs strategies/policies;
- Deep knowledge/scientific background in Internal Medicine (Diabetes, Neuro-psychiatric and Immuno-inflammatory portfolios)
- Experience working in global positions, across regional organizations and within Alliance partnerships;
- Global/EU product launch experience required.
- Strong leadership: Able to lead/drive relevant work-streams and exercise influence in decision-making processes across all levels of seniority and functional/geographical areas;
- Best practice perspective: develops world-class best practices that create significant competitive advantage.
- Organizational buy-in: the position requires building/maintaining relationships with internal customers.
- Strategic thinking: Able to see and understand trends and activities and relate their impact to the "bigger" strategic picture/questions;
- Strong analytical thinking: Capable of defining complex problems and identifying novel approaches and solutions. Ability to prioritize and resolve trade-offs between competing demands
- Passionate and dedicated to patient's well-being;
- Ability to work collaboratively internally and externally;
- Strong communicator: Both verbal and written, including presentation skills essential. Proven ability of successfully managing complexity across multi-functional stakeholders, and building strong relationships;
- Innovative mindset: Able to develop and execute upon creative ideas in a collaborative manner, particularly as related to innovative HEOR approaches, value communication, product differentiation etc.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
