Looking for an opportunity to shape global customs and trade compliance frameworks and influence high-level business strategy?

Proclinical is seeking a Director of Customs & Trade Compliance to lead the development and implementation of global strategies, policies, and processes related to customs and trade compliance. This role involves collaborating with regional and local teams, ensuring adherence to regulations, and driving continuous improvement in compliance practices. You will play a key role in aligning compliance frameworks with global business strategies and fostering a culture of excellence within the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement global customs and trade compliance strategies, policies, and internal standards.
• Collaborate with global, regional, and local teams to ensure compliance and alignment across the organization.
• Monitor and adapt to changes in trade regulations, ensuring compliance with embargoes and trade restrictions.
• Design and implement tools, processes, and controls for effective compliance management.
• Establish and maintain a global stakeholder network to address strategic initiatives and business changes.
• Provide expert advice on customs and trade compliance for strategic projects, audits, and litigations.
• Identify and mitigate customs duty liabilities and propose actionable solutions.
• Define and manage vendor strategies for service providers, such as customs brokers.
• Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Act as a subject matter expert and resource for all customs and trade compliance matters.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Advanced degree in economics, or a related field, with additional qualifications in trade compliance.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of German or another Swiss national language is a plus.
• Expertise in customs and trade compliance, including planning and controversy resolution.
• Strong ERP/SAP knowledge and ability to collaborate with IT teams.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Conceptual thinker with the ability to influence and manage informally.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a reputable firm or in-house compliance function.
