Data Scientist - Pharmaceutical Research

Proclinical is working with a leading global pharmaceutical company is expanding its digital and AI-driven drug discovery capabilities as part of a broader R&D transformation initiative. The team is focused on integrating large-scale biological and clinical datasets to improve target discovery, biomarker identification, and translational research outcomes.
The company is looking for Data Scientists, Bioinformaticians, and Computational Researchers to support next-generation drug discovery programs.
This role will sit within a highly collaborative research environment working across biology, computational science, and AI/ML.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop data mining and machine learning approaches for:
- disease gene identification
- biomarker discovery
- mechanism of action analysis
- Analyse large-scale biological and clinical datasets including:
- genomics
- transcriptomics
- proteomics
- real-world data
- pathology imaging
- Build advanced AI models and digital twin technologies for in silico experimentation
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional research teams
- Contribute to the development of scalable computational research infrastructure
What They're Looking For
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in:
- Bioinformatics
- Computational Biology
- Data Science
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Life Sciences
- Strong Python and/or R programming skills
- Experience working with biological or pharmaceutical datasets
- Exposure to AI/ML methodologies such as:
- deep learning
- generative AI
- Bayesian optimisation
- time-series modelling
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Bioinformatics or cheminformatics experience
- Systems biology or mathematical modelling expertise
- SQL/database skills
- AWS or cloud computing experience
Location
Remote flexibility available depending on location and experience.
