Data Scientist - Pharmaceutical Research

Are you ready to leverage AI, bioinformatics, and large-scale biological data to help drive the next wave of pharmaceutical innovation?

Proclinical is working with a leading global pharmaceutical company is expanding its digital and AI-driven drug discovery capabilities as part of a broader R&D transformation initiative. The team is focused on integrating large-scale biological and clinical datasets to improve target discovery, biomarker identification, and translational research outcomes.

The company is looking for Data Scientists, Bioinformaticians, and Computational Researchers to support next-generation drug discovery programs.

This role will sit within a highly collaborative research environment working across biology, computational science, and AI/ML.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop data mining and machine learning approaches for:
    • disease gene identification
    • biomarker discovery
    • mechanism of action analysis
  • Analyse large-scale biological and clinical datasets including:
    • genomics
    • transcriptomics
    • proteomics
    • real-world data
    • pathology imaging
  • Build advanced AI models and digital twin technologies for in silico experimentation
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional research teams
  • Contribute to the development of scalable computational research infrastructure

What They're Looking For

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in:
    • Bioinformatics
    • Computational Biology
    • Data Science
    • Engineering
    • Mathematics
    • Physics
    • Life Sciences
  • Strong Python and/or R programming skills
  • Experience working with biological or pharmaceutical datasets
  • Exposure to AI/ML methodologies such as:
    • deep learning
    • generative AI
    • Bayesian optimisation
    • time-series modelling
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

  • Bioinformatics or cheminformatics experience
  • Systems biology or mathematical modelling expertise
  • SQL/database skills
  • AWS or cloud computing experience

Location

Remote flexibility available depending on location and experience.
