Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for a Clinical Research Scientist position with a top 10 global pharmaceutical company. This leading organization develops a broad range of products in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and consumer healthcare, and is currently seeking an applicant to join its office in New Jersey.
The Clinical Research Scientist will support the delivery of clinical development excellence in compliance with internal policies and external regulations by providing scientific/ medical expertise on specific category/ sub-category innovation project strategies.
This essential position applies subject matter expertise in clinical science and in-depth knowledge in clinical research to drive the development, implementation, delivery, and communication of global clinical program and individual clinical studies in Pain Relief to support innovation pipelines and brand positioning and messaging.
Job Responsibilities:
- Providing clinical development expert leadership within category/ sub-category team(s) ensuring that the clinical research studies in Pain Relief are aligned and support category innovation strategies approved by senior management.
- With oversight from the VP Clinical Development and Director, Clinical Research, liaising with Category/sub-category Medical Affairs leads and other stakeholders to input and implement medical strategy and then translate to an associated clinical development/ claim support programs for consumer Pain Relief studies.
- Developing and executing research plans and studies using established scientific methods and protocols (e.g. experiential research, Pain Relief health-related quality of life, and in vivo/ in-vitro Pain Relief studies).
- Developing, adapting, and validating test methods and procedures within the Pain Relief category.
- Contributing to the design, conduct and scientific merit of clinical studies evaluating the in vivo performance of Pain Relief products where clinical testing is required; organizing clinical testing in support of clinical department functions.
- Partnering with other CDMA and, if required, R&D functions, to develop innovative study designs/ methodologies to enable new and competitive claims to be made on Consumer Healthcare Pain Relief products.
- Ensuring clinical trial design, results reporting and publication are undertaken in compliance with external e.g. GCP, internal Medical Governance and other internal policy requirements.
- Collaborating with Clinical Operations to evaluate external test sites for study / test capabilities.
- Delivering expert technical knowledge and leadership to the Business in clinical development activities, helping to ensure best practice and achievement of business objectives based on science and values within the Pain Relief space.
- Representing the company at external scientific events, including presenting clinical/ scientific data at conferences
- Developing high-quality relationships with key external parties e.g. Investigators, KEEs, HCOs, etc.
- Coordinating and overseeing supported research, e.g., Investigator Sponsored Studies as well as management of outsourced test development and research collaborations. Collaborating and coordinating with other groups (internal and external) to ensure that research is executed on time and budget.
- Conducting clinical due diligence for external opportunities
- Keeping up to date with relevant therapeutic/ scientific literature and providing clinical expertise to facilitate preparation of clinical development and therapeutic strategies for the Pain Relief category.
Skills and Requirements:
- S. in Medical or similar Clinical Science field.; PharmD, PhD, or MD highly preferred.
- Expertise in Pain Relief and clinical research methodology in this therapeutic space, as well as significant experience in clinical trial design, protocol development, and data interpretation is required.
- Clinical Pharmacology and pharmacokinetics experience is greatly preferred.
- Previous experience with medical devices is greatly preferred.
- Must be able to formulate clinical development plans incorporating pre-clinical and clinical data while ensuring support of business needs.
- At least three years of clinical research background is required. Previous experience within Pain Relief is greatly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and proven track record of delivering clinical development programs/ clinical studies.
- Demonstrated business acumen and ability to work as part of a complex matrix organization. Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
