Proclinical is seeking a Scientific Data Visualization Engineer to develop impactful analytical tools for scientists in the field of Translational Medicine.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role combines front-end development with data stewardship, focusing on creating interactive applications and ensuring high-quality, automated clinical and biomarker data. You will act as a technical bridge between raw data infrastructure and scientific end-users, contributing to meaningful research outcomes.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proficiency in R, particularly Shiny reactive programming and package development, as well as TIBCO Spotfire.
  • Strong understanding of ETL concepts, data preparation automation, and SQL scripting.
  • Experience connecting R-Spotfire applications to cloud data sources such as Azure Fabric, Databricks, or AWS.
  • Familiarity with Shiny frameworks like teal or golem and the ability to build custom solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and FAIR data principles.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with clinical data standards (e.g., SDTM, ADaM) and biomarker data formats (e.g., NGS, flow cytometry, proteomics).
  • Preferred: Experience with Python for backend tasks and HTML/CSS/JavaScript for UI customization.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of database systems, APIs, and query optimization.

The Sr. Scientific Data Visualization Engineer's responsibilities will be:

  • Design and deploy custom R Shiny applications, framework-based tools (e.g., teal), and TIBCO Spotfire dashboards to address complex scientific queries.
  • Automate dashboard updates and data pipelines, integrating visualizations into live data workflows.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to define efficient schemas and views in cloud-based data lakes for optimal performance.
  • Work closely with biologists and translational scientists to translate research questions into actionable visual queries.
  • Debug and optimize dashboard code to handle large-scale multi-omics datasets while maintaining user experience.
  • Define and implement data ingestion patterns for clinical biomarker datasets in partnership with IT and Translational Sciences teams.
  • Ensure data quality, metadata standards, and FAIR compliance for internal data assets.
  • Support governance processes for data lifecycle management and documentation.
  • Provide expertise on data engineering best practices and contribute to workflow automation.
