Senior Upstream Scientist (USP)

Proclinical is seeking a Senior Upstream Scientist (USP) to join a biotech company in Iceland. This role focuses on upstream processing within the biotechnology and oncology sectors. The ideal candidate will be adept at working in compliance with cGMP and EHS practices, ensuring all activities are conducted safely and effectively. This position requires relocation to Iceland.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct cGMP activities in Grade CNC, D, and C areas.
• Aseptically culture mammalian cells from cell revival stage to end of production in single-use bioreactors.
• Prepare media and buffers according to specified protocols.
• Maintain the USP suite and equipment in a state of inspection readiness.
• Review written procedures, SOPs, BMRs, and other cGMP documentation.
• Assist in executing technical and validation protocols.
• Contribute to investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Support commercial Pre-Approval Inspections (PAIs), audits, and regulatory interactions.
• Demonstrate operational excellence within the functional area.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Degree in a related discipline or sufficient relevant experience.
• Knowledge of mammalian cell culture for cGMP production of monoclonal antibodies and recombinant protein therapeutic products.
• Hands-on experience with upstream processing equipment.
• Understanding of cell culture principles, techniques, scale-up, technology transfer, and process validation.
• Proven experience in collaborative team working.
