Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for a Senior Director, Business Development position with a leading biotechnology that develops innovative CAR-T therapeutics that cover several areas of significantly unmet medical needs. This remarkable company is seeking a driven and experienced applicant to join their team in Shanghai. Job Responsibilities:
- Directly reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Development with dotted line reporting to the CEO and the Sr. Director of Business Development.
- Identifying and developing strategic business and scientific opportunities, focusing on the Asian market and positively promoting and positioning the company as a leading immunotherapy company.
- Working closely with executive management and scientific teams to advance initiatives that support the company's vision and goals.
- Directing the assessment of licensing opportunities and coordinating commercial input to specific programs as necessary.
- Establishing new scientific and strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances.
- Following up on Chinese and Asian partnership activities, including tracking, documentation, and status reporting of all collaborations along the business development pipeline.
- Interacting with existing corporate contacts, facilitating communication, keeping track of milestones, and identifying scope for enhancing these relationships.
- Managing the identification, evaluation, and development of pharmaceutical and biotechnology prospects for new business opportunities.
- Developing proposals and term sheets for prospects and managing the day-to-day aspects of closing, including the utilisation of legal counsel and coordinating with Portfolio Management, Finance, and related functional areas.
- Collaborating across the organisation, including R&D, CMC, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance to drive high value transactions and deals.
- Utilising business intelligence strategies and technologies to characterise future competitive landscapes for new products.
Skills and Requirements:
- An MBA degree or Ph.D. in a life science field, with equivalent qualifications also considered.
- At least 10 years of business development experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment.
- Prior experience in dealing with corporate partners and in negotiating and completing agreements, including both in- and out-licensing.
- A thorough understanding of the processes of due diligence, asset valuation, alliance integration.
- Demonstrable capability in establishing trusting alliances and partnerships through internal/external collaborations.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of oncology and immune-oncology.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
- Fluency in Chinese and English.
