Robotics Engineer - Contract - Cambridge, MA

Proclinical is seeking a Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development and integration of robotic systems within automated workflows.
Primary Responsibilities:
This role focuses on creating robust software solutions, integrating physical robotic systems, and building simulation environments to ensure seamless hardware deployment. You will play a key role in debugging, documenting, and scaling robotic systems while collaborating with a dynamic team.
Skills & Requirements:
- Background in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in ROS2 node development, launch files, and message-service-action interfaces.
- Solid understanding of robot kinematics, including forward/inverse kinematics, Jacobians, and transforms.
- Experience with robotic simulation platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Gazebo.
- Hands-on experience with physical robots, including robotic arms, AMRs, or mobile manipulators.
- Expertise in at least one area: motion planning (e.g., MoveIt2), trajectory generation, autonomous navigation (e.g., Nav2), localization (e.g., SLAM, AMCL), perception (e.g., object detection, depth sensing), or sensor fusion (e.g., IMU, LiDAR, camera integration).
Bonus Skills (not required):
- Experience deploying robotic systems in production or field environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++ within a ROS2 context.
- Ability to independently debug hardware-software integration issues.
- Familiarity with lab automation or scientific environments.
The Robotics Engineer's responsibilities will be:
- Develop ROS2 nodes, launch files, and message-service-action interfaces for transport workflows.
- Integrate physical robotic systems, including arms, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), or mobile manipulators, into the automation environment.
- Build and maintain simulation environments using platforms like Isaac Sim or Gazebo to test and refine deployments.
- Debug end-to-end integration issues, including kinematics, calibration, timing, and sensor-related challenges.
- Contribute expertise in motion planning, navigation, localization, perception, or sensor fusion as needed.
- Document configurations, failure modes, and operating procedures to support scalability and maintenance.
Compensation:
- $120,000 to $140,000 per annum.
