Animal Handler, Lab Technician - Contract - Bogart, GA
Proclinical is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Animal Care Specialist for a leading pharmaceutical company. This is a contract position located in Bogart, GA.
Primary Responsibilities:
The role is crucial in maintaining the health and welfare of animals, complying with regulations, and adhering to company policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for sanitizing animal rooms, enclosures, and equipment, providing nutrition to animals, and assessing animal health status. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to animal welfare.
Skills & Requirements:
- No unmanaged allergies to animals.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Ability to closely follow established procedures.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One or more years of experience working in a Laboratory Animal Facility or performing work in a cGMP environment preferred.
The Lab Technician will:
- Sanitize animal rooms, enclosures, equipment, corridors, and support areas using appropriate techniques.
- Provide nutrition to animals by supplying feed and water.
- Organize and maintain animal enclosures, supplies, and equipment.
- Assess animal health status by gathering and documenting data and observing animals.
- Administer treatments, and euthanize animals when necessary.
- Initiate and maintain records as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Handle and restrain animals using appropriate techniques.
- Cross-train in all areas of the facility and provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Oversee packaging of waste materials sent out for incineration to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Receive and properly process incoming shipments of supplies and materials.
