Electrical Engineer (Industrial/Automation) - Permanent - Greater Boston

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and bringing innovative engineering solutions from concept to reality?

Proclinical is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team in the Greater Boston area.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role focuses on designing, developing, and troubleshooting complex electrical and automation systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, safety, and customer requirements. This position offers a hybrid work environment and requires candidates to already reside in the Greater Boston area.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering fundamentals across analog and digital systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot complex electrical schematics and control system drawings.
  • Strong system-level debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, automated machinery, or electromechanical systems.
  • Effective verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Control panel design, including schematics, one-line diagrams, wire run lists, and BOM creation.
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI platforms, particularly Siemens or Allen-Bradley/Rockwell systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus.
  • Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Exposure to motors, drives, sensors, motion control systems, and power distribution.
  • Understanding of electrical safety and compliance standards (e.g., NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849-1, UL 508A).
  • Background in electrical testing, validation, or test fixture development.

The Electrical Engineer's responsibilities will be:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for industrial and automated equipment applications.
  • Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls and automation systems at both component and system levels.
  • Support system integration, startup, commissioning, and performance verification activities.
  • Develop electrical designs, including control panels, one-line diagrams, wire run lists, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Select and specify electrical components such as sensors, drives, power distribution, and control hardware.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and project engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist with PLC, HMI, and industrial networking integration activities.
  • Document engineering changes, technical findings, and project deliverables.
  • Provide technical support to customers, field service personnel, and internal teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Support testing, validation, and compliance activities as needed.

Compensation:

  • $110,000 to $140,000 per annum.
