EI&C Instrumentation Engineer

Proclinical is seeking an EIC Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, specification, and integration of instrumentation and field devices for process utility and infrastructure systems. This role involves ensuring compliance with GMP standards, managing engineering documentation, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The position is site-based and offers the opportunity to contribute to critical projects in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and specify instrumentation and field devices for process utility and infrastructure systems.
• Select and define measurement technologies for parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical measurements, and control valves.
• Create, maintain, and update instrumentation documentation, including data sheets, loop diagrams, indexes, and calibration/maintenance data.
• Manage instrument-related engineering data within COMOS.
• Support the integration of field devices into DCS, PLC, SIS, and process control systems.
• Coordinate and supervise installation activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Plan, execute, document, and troubleshoot loop checks, functional tests, and commissioning activities.
• Assist with startup and handover activities for new or modified systems.
• Execute GMP qualification activities using tools like UBIK and Kneat, including IQ-OQ documentation and testing.
• Ensure all engineering activities align with change control, data integrity, and validation requirements.
• Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions related to instrumentation systems.
• Collaborate with Automation, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Validation, Quality, and Project teams.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Background in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in instrumentation engineering within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in instrumentation design, field devices, calibration principles, and process measurements.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation and data management in COMOS.
• Knowledge of process control systems and field device integration.
• Hands-on experience with commissioning, loop testing, and startup support.
• Understanding of GMP environments and GxP documentation requirements.
• Experience with qualification tools such as UBIK and Kneat is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in English and/or German.
