Automation Engineer - DeltaV - Contract - Indiana/Indianapolis

Proclinical is seeking an Automation Engineer specializing in DeltaV for a project-based role in Indiana.

Primary Responsibilities:

This position involves overseeing the control system solutions for a designated area within a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing project. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with automation standards and user requirements. This role requires a hybrid work arrangement, with periodic on-site presence during the design phase and full-time on-site work during commissioning.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Background in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in automation within the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in API/bulk manufacturing.
  • Expertise in managing large pharmaceutical automation projects.
  • Proficiency in DeltaV Batch DCS and familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of GMPs, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Automation Engineer's responsibilities will be:

  • Take technical ownership of the automation system for a specific project area.
  • Define the S88 software structure and develop initial functional design specifications.
  • Collaborate with system integrators to finalize functional specifications.
  • Participate in P&ID and control strategy reviews.
  • Work closely with the Project Technical Lead and System Integrator to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
  • Align automation solutions with program-wide automation philosophy and standards.
  • Ensure consistency in automation deliverables, including requirements, functional specifications, control strategies, phases, and recipes.
  • Assist in defining and modifying software components as needed.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and needs to the Automation Technical Lead.
  • Provide input, review, and approve functional requirements and specifications.
  • Develop parameter and recipe specification documents.
  • Address technical queries from system integrators.
  • Identify and manage remediation efforts for process control software.
  • Track and resolve issues post-software acceptance.
  • Analyze and mitigate technical risks specific to the project area.
  • Maintain compliance with all training and regulatory requirements.
