Proclinical are recruiting a VP Medicinal Chemistry for a biotech organisation. This role is on a permanent basis and is located in Graz. The client is focused on bringing various first-in-class small molecule PICs to market.

Responsibilities:

  • To successfully bring programs from target selection through lead optimisation to IND, you will guide the hit ID to guide optimisation phases.
  • Contribute to the design decisions on CADD, ML and biology.
  • Distribute and display crucial data packages and data-driven scientific updates to the organisation affect the pipelines milestones and business goals.
  • You will arrange and drive the drafting and archiving of IP derives from compound design efforts.
  • Form roadmap for forming internal abilities and infrastructure leveraging internal knowledge and external resources.
  • Practical involvement in the company's drug discovery efforts.
  • Other duties may be assigned to this role.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Educated to a PhD degree level in a medicinal chemistry with at least 15 years of experience in discovery research within a pharma or biotech establishment, as well as at least 8 years of experience in a leadership role within medicinal chemistry.
  • Knowledge in oncology and/or CNS with a solid record of enhancing programs to IND.
  • Acquainted with competitive landscape in targeted protein degradation, as well as latest scientific developments within the bRo5 space.
  • Practical scientific brilliant in drug discovery and design, specifically in guiding optimisation and hit-to-lead.
  • Hit ID experience would be ideal.
  • Communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to think strategically.
  • Capable of guiding the conception and development of a plan and move to action.
  • Past experience as a speaker at conferences.
  • Able to navigate, implement, and direct within an energetic, fast-paced and developing work setting.
  • Capable of resolving issues.
  • Competent leadership skills with the ability to serve as a role model for members of the team and any other parts of the company.
  • Familiarity in setting-up synthesis labs would be advantageous to the role.
