Senior Scientist: Motor Neuron Diseases - Contract - Tarrytown NY

Are you looking to make an impact with your innovation? Proclinical is working with a well-established pharmaceutical company to recruit foe a Senior Scientist!

This position includes completing basic research studies which are designed to understand the biology behind various neurodegenerative diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Primary Responsibilities:

We are looking for someone who can execute both in vivo and cell-based assays to support the characterization and evaluation of novel disease models and use them as a preliminary system to evaluate potential therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or related biological sciences.
  • Experience with animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, histology, tissue preparation, and cell culture.
  • Knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases, the motor system, and RNA biology is advantageous.
  • Strong interest in exploring new scientific areas and contributing to the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

The Senior Scientist's responsibilities will be:

  • Develop novel cellular and animal models to study neurodegeneration mechanisms and test therapeutic approaches.
  • Collect and process disease-relevant tissue from animal models, including biochemical analysis, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy.
  • Design and execute cell-based assays or other innovative technologies to investigate neurodegeneration.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Present findings internally and externally, actively participating in discussions within a cross-functional team.

Compensation:

  • $40 to $50 per hour
