Proclinical is seeking a Principal Associate Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development to join a rapidly expanding biotech in Cambridge MA developing a novel class of biotherapeutics with applications in several disease areas and programs already in clinical trials.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating physicochemical properties of biological molecules including lipids, proteins, and/ or glycans relevant to drug development and subsequently interpreting and communicating results;
  • Developing analytical methods for biomolecules and characterizing product variants;
  • Providing technical/experimental hands-on support to enable process development;
  • Implementation of chemical and physical methods for biomolecule characterization, including chromatography, spectroscopy, and immunoassays (experience with DLS and CEX/AEX-HPLC would be helpful);
  • Interfacing with Quality Control in support of technology transfer for analytical procedures related to release and stability testing of drug substances and drug products;
  • Working independently and keeping a positive attitude toward collaborative work with other scientific staff internally as well as externally;
  • Maintaining a strong awareness of current scientific literature, particularly in drug substance characterization, and actively applying new concepts as appropriate;

Skills and Requirements:

  • Candidates should have a BSc or BA in chemistry, biochemistry, or a similar discipline with 8+ years of industrial and/or academic experience.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing biological molecules using diverse analytical technologies, such as chromatography and immunoassays, is required.
  • Knowledge of other physical and chemical methods is a plus.
  • Candidates will be expected to work independently under the guidance of an experienced analytical scientist. The ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment, and plan, design, and execute experiments in a timely manner, and effectively communicate complicated results are all critical.
  • Additional qualifications include computer literacy and good interpersonal skills.
