Medical Affairs Manager - Permanent - Onsite

Proclinical is seeking a Medical Affairs Manager for a global pharmaceutical company. This is a permanent role located in Milan, Italy.

Primary Responsibilities

The Medical Affairs Manager is responsible for providing high level scientific support for internal and external customers for our therapeutic area and products.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the product(s) as Brand of Choice through medical communications, scientific support for promotional activities and other related medical activities including, but not limited to studies, trainings, and medical information.
  • Lead and develop Italy medical affairs team of MSLs: responsible for hiring, onboarding, coaching and providing general and technical guidance, and manage performance & development plans.
  • Is responsible, either alone or in collaboration with the Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSL), to start up and implement the country's medical affairs plan and develop and follow up
  • Develops, maintains and extends contacts with top KOLs in our field of therapeutic area
  • Present data on existing products and new launches to healthcare professionals including physicians, hospital practitioners, formulary committees, pharmacists upon request, for example during Hospital Meeting. Present relevant data to internal colleagues, for example during conventions.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, local and international rules and regulations
  • Gives medical input into the business plans, market access strategies, uptake of company products in guidelines, promotional materials and the selection of the most recent/appropriate claims, arguments and references to be used
  • Provides input on/drafts local publications/abstracts/reports/medical reviews and, if applicable, medical training materials
  • Reviews expert reports to support reimbursement or formulary listing processes and is involved in the development of value packs
  • Evaluates scientific value of projects for which support is requested from the company
  • Recommend trials site to R&D colleagues, provide medical and scientific expertise related to Local phase IV studies design and deliverables (protocols, clinical trials, publications), initial review of local IST proposals

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Physician, pharmacist or PhD in Life-Science
  • At least 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry of which 3 years in medical affairs.
  • Affinity with marketing & sales, knowledge on market access is a plus
  • Experience in ophthalmology
  • Team work and collaboration: demonstrated leadership skills with ability to work in high performance teams, and to work in a matrix organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Customer focus oriented: bring expertise and innovation and collaborate with the customer
  • Product and Disease knowledge
  • Bilingual and fluency in written English
  • High ethical standards
  • Autonomous, hands-on, and open mind set
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office, stats and complaint handling software
  • Facilitator, easy communicator and proactive thinker
