Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for an Associate Scientist - Fibrosis position with an international biopharmaceutical company that delivers exceptional scientific research across the globe. This company, which prides itself on its portfolio of life-saving drugs, pipeline of late-stage drug candidates, and unmatched patient access programs, is seeking for an exceptional individual to join their team in California.
The Associate Scientist will support discovering and development of therapeutic agents to treat non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and other fibrotic diseases. They will participate in discovery and translational research aimed at identifying and characterising novel therapeutic targets, investigating the mechanism of action of therapeutics and defining optimal drug combinations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Developing and performing cell-based assays on cell lines and primary human cell cultures to support validation of novel anti-fibrotic therapeutics.
- Assessing therapeutic potential and mechanism of action of new drugs by analysis of tissues and plasma from pre-clinical rodent models.
- Proactively troubleshooting technical issues and recommending potential corrective actions based on personal observations and literature searches.
- Performing and managing experiments including cell-based assays, immunoassay, biochemical assays, etc.
Skills and Requirements:
- A BS or MS degree in a related scientific discipline.
- At least 8 years of demonstrable experience.
- Extensive cell culture experience, including human primary cell cultures (hepatocytes, stellate cells, fibroblasts, macrophages) and/or development of various cell-based assays will be preferred.
- Proficiency with basic data analysis programs (Excel, GraphPad Prism, etc.) and applying statistics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, explanation, and persuasion.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
