Senior Scientist, Preclinical Oncology - San Francisco, CA - Permanent

Proclinical is seeking a dedicated and innovative Senior Scientist specializing in Preclinical Oncology. This is a permanent position located in South San Francisco, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and has a passion for developing small molecule therapeutics for solid tumors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our ongoing programs towards clinical trials.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or related biological sciences with a strong focus on drug discovery and development.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in cancer biology, cancer genetics, and immunology.
  • Deep understanding of oncology preclinical studies and models, including patient stratification, biomarkers, clinical planning, and early clinical development processes.
  • Proven leadership skills in building, developing, and motivating teams to deliver exceptional results under critical timelines.
  • Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing activities.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and partnering skills in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.

The Senior Scientist, Preclinical Oncology will:

  • Direct and execute translational biology objectives to enable drug discovery and development.
  • Manage specific oncology programs, contributing to program planning, experiment design, data interpretation, and program progression.
  • Build capabilities related to oncology translational biology, either internally or through external partners.
  • Act as a thought leader, staying aware of innovative approaches and external competition to strategize on internal oncology programs.
  • Enable discovery research and new target ideation through insights obtained from translational work, including patient data.
  • Collaborate effectively with chemistry, biology, AI/ML teams, and CRO partners.
