We are seeking a (Senior) Scientist in Synthetic & Medicinal Chemistry to join a newly founded Biotech in Cambridge, MA seeking to make the world's first programmable RNA medicines and deliver innovative oligonucleotide therapeutics to patients. Role
As a (Senior) Scientist in the Chemistry group, you will be a key contributor to a diverse team working on novel siRNA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry as well as an interest in siRNA/Oligotherapeutics. In this role you will work closely with colleagues to develop new drugs designs developed by Sirius as well as to synthesise compounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the synthesis, purification and characterisation of organic compounds/oligonucleotides.
  • Support ordering and general upkeep of RNA synthesisers and other related equipment.
  • Perform synthesis projects independently or as part of a team.
  • Act to mentor junior staff as the company grows.
  • Confident in analytical methods and analytical instrumentation [HPLC LC-MS MS NMR etc.].
  • Clearly document experimental workflows and results.
  • Communicate findings to the team and management when required.
  • Oversee day to day lab tasks.
  • Enjoy benchwork.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree: relevant Synthetic organic chemistry discipline preferred.
    • 1-3 years' experience for Scientist.
    • >3 for Senior Scientist.
  • Familiarity with siRNA, ASOs and gene silencing is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment.
