Supporting safer science through proactive EHS excellence across leading R&D environments.

Proclinical is seeking an EHS Assistant for a 12-month contract with full-time hours. This role involves supporting Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance across Research and Development (R&D) sites. You will play a key role in ensuring adherence to EHS regulations and internal standards while contributing to the UK Health and Safety programs. Occasional travel to other R&D sites in London and Belgium may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including reviewing risk assessments, issuing permits, and communicating with relevant personnel.
  • Conduct performance checks to ensure contractor compliance with RAMS and halt unsafe practices if necessary.
  • Manage and coordinate statutory inspection schedules and follow-up actions.
  • Support audit preparation, conduct workplace inspections, and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Assist in managing Declaration of Conformity documentation for equipment compliance.
  • Support the completion and review of risk assessments and implement safety measures.
  • Participate in change control processes to assess and mitigate EHS risks associated with new processes, equipment, or materials.
  • Conduct initial reviews and investigations of EHS incidents, near misses, and good saves, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Respond to EHS group communications and compile promotional content for EHS programs.
  • Generate and review procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and performance reporting.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of UK EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, auditing, and safe systems of work.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Practical experience in a health and safety role, with involvement in EHS improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is advantageous.
