An international pharmaceutical company is advertising a vacancy for an Associate Director Marketing in their German office. This historic organisation prides itself on over a century's experience in ophthalmology, having taken initiatives in ophthalmic research, regulatory management, production, marketing, or distribution. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the leading establishments in ophthalmic healthcare and provide skills and expertise in the pharmaceutical commercial field.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading the cross-functional development of the German annual brand/therapeutic area plan in alignment with the EMEA brand/therapeutic area plan.
  • Contributing to the development of the EMEA brand plan and longer-term strategic plans by reflecting the needs of the German market and providing key insights, assumptions, and forecasts.
  • Leading the execution of the brand plan in collaboration with the cross functional team and key external collaborators including KOLs, agencies, and GER/EMEA colleagues.
  • Working with suitable agency partners.
  • Developing and executing appropriate multichannel strategies within brand plan aligned with target customer profiles and needs.
  • Developing relationships and collaborations with key opinion leaders, patient support groups, and other healthcare organisations to ensure that significant developments in the field are identified and monitored and that key projects are delivered
  • Coordinating and ensuring that the company has a strong presence at key congresses/events in collaboration with medical affairs, including both promotional and medical education aspects.
  • Providing input into EMEA marketing campaigns and ensuring national campaigns are localised and launched to fit local market needs, selling cycle, and in line with EMEA strategy.
  • Working with sales leadership, training, and wider team to ensure that campaigns are rolled out and executed in the field in line with brand strategy.
  • Regularly gathering feedback and sharing with EMEA and German colleagues to identify areas for improvement and develop suitable action plans.
  • Providing regular updated production forecasts to supply chain to ensure that the German market has enough products to supply customer needs in line with financial forecasts.
  • Coordinating with the German Dry Eye & Glaucoma Surgery cross-functional customer-facing team to ensure plans achieve commercial objectives and meet the needs of our target patients and customers.
  • Tracking key brand commercial performance metrics and ensuring the right KPIs are identified, tracked, and met for all key tactics in collaboration with finance/market insights team.
  • Developing and managing promotional budgets, including identifying opportunities for savings and efficiencies.
  • Identifying and sharing best practices and key learnings with EMEA and German colleagues.
  • Tracking market and competitive dynamics, sharing insights with colleagues, and recommending how plans should adjust.
  • Ensuring that all marketing programmes are compliant.
  • Following GDP guidelines and acting in line with it (obligatory for all employees).

Skills and Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent in science and/or business, Marketing, or MBA qualification/s.
  • At least 4 years of strategic marketing experience and at least 5 years at a national/international level, including having complete responsibility for developing brand plan.
  • Experience of managing others is ideal.
  • Experience of working on brands which have required market shaping.
  • Experience with New product launches and life cycle management.
  • Experience of developing and collaborating with KOLs.
  • Experience in multi-channel customer engagement.
  • Experience of organising large customer events.
  • Experience of ophthalmology ideal, ideally with broad experience (eg surgical/ devices/ Rx/ different sub-therapy areas).
  • Experience of hiring and managing external agencies.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
