Proclinical is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on developing cutting-edge automated hardware and software solutions in the gene therapy and medical devices space.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be involved leading the design and development of complex electromechanical systems, contributing to all phases of product development from concept to manufacturing, and supporting field operations. The position offers opportunities for mentorship and potential growth into management roles.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in designing products or equipment with robotics, electromechanical mechanisms, or automation.
  • Experience completing at least two product life cycles from concept to production.
  • Functional knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D MCAD software.
  • Understanding of DFM principles and low-volume manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, bending, additive manufacturing).
  • Systems-level knowledge of low-voltage AC/DC circuits, sensors, actuators, and circuit diagrams.
  • Practical understanding of fluid flow, thermal, and structural design considerations.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and mentor junior engineers.

The Sr. System Engineer's responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the end-to-end design of automated hardware systems, emphasizing electro-mechanical mechanism design.
  • Develop system architecture, select components, and create schematics.
  • Ensure compliance with product development processes, including generating requirements, specifications, and test protocols.
  • Contribute to design verification testing (DVT), risk analysis activities (e.g., DFMEA, FTA), and requirements traceability documentation.
  • Create detailed documentation such as models, drawings, BOMs, and assembly procedures for production transfer.
  • Engage in hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, debugging, and qualification of subsystems and components.
  • Manage projects, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets, while coordinating resources as needed.
  • Communicate with suppliers to support new product designs and ongoing efforts.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional travel (up to 15%) depending on project phase.
  • Hybrid work model with four days per week onsite in Springfield, MO.
