Senior Research Associate, mRNA Production and Formulation

In this role, you will be a part of the Pre-clinical, Platform, and Research Analytical Support and Development Team, and will:

• Be responsible for optimising and standardising mRNA production and formulation to support program development from discovery, lead identification, and clinical advancement
• Support early upstream research Molecular Biology target discovery efforts
• Generate high quality batches of mRNA for lead programs used in vivo and in vitro studies
• Partner with internal analytical development to develop analytical methods to characterise DNA, mRNA and mRNA-LNP
• Get to work in our research site in Cambridge's life science epicenter, which will position our scientific team in the heart of a vibrant ecosystem of world-class science, innovation, and business opportunities.
• Be a part of growing team in our in-person hands on laboratory where we will focus on growing great science, core lab work, data analysis, as well as instrument maintenance.

• Work as highly visible member of a multidisciplinary team, interfacing with Molecular Biology, Analytical Development, Process Development, and key external partners.

To do that you will need…

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field of study.
• A minimum of 3+ years of working experience, including hands-on laboratory experience in Biotechnological or Pharmaceutical industries.
• Experience with a broad range of Molecular Biology Techniques (cloning, plasmid isolation, nucleic acid purification, restriction enzyme digestions, sequencing, and IVT).
• Experience performing analytical techniques for nucleic acids (gel electrophoresis, absorption, restriction enzyme digestions, and coordinating external sequencing services (Sanger or NGS).
• Experience authoring SOPs/STMs, and familiar with technology transfer.
• Passion for working at the bench to advance programs and solve technical challenges.
• Self-motivation and adaptability to evolving project priorities and responsibilities.
• Team-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
• US Citizenship or valid Visa.
• Strong data visualisation and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in cancer and/or infectious disease.
• Experience in vaccines and/or mRNA technologies.
• A basic understanding of immunology.
• Hands on experience with IVT.
• Familiarity with microfluidic, jet impingement, T-mixing technologies for mRNA-LNP formulation.
• Familiarity with common analytical techniques to characterize DNA, RNA, and mRNA-LNP.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal with competing priorities, strong reasoning, detail oriented and problem-solving ability is essential.
• Ability to work on teams and with multiple projects and work well under general direction with tight timelines.
• Independently motivated to learn.
